I hope everyone is enjoying preparing for Christmas. We are trying to clean as we decorate. I know I just painted my house hunter green - but we decided it was too dark. Now some of the walls are white and some are hunter green - It looks lovely :) We haven't placed all of the decorations back in place yet- the paint is still drying but
Here's a photo of my tree per blogger request:
(Notice the mantle is bare - But isn't it clean :)
This is the first time I have stitched ornaments - It certainly takes a bunch to fill a tree !!!! Exhausting -lol
Merry Christmas !!
I have had such a wonderful time visiting my mailbox this week !!!!!!! I have received some fabulous goodies :)
My Exchange for the Black Bird Designs Round 6 has arrived.
Isn't it beautiful Marjorie did such a lovely job -I can't believe this is the first time she has done this finish - It turned out incredible !!!!! Thank you so much Marjorie - It will have a place of honor by my stitching chair !!
And if that wasn't enough
I also received a fantastic RAK from Gracie !!! I wasn't expecting this at all and it was so exciting - I had so much fun rummaging through my treasures !!!!!! I didn't know there was such a thing as a Bead Nabber - My new favorite toy !!!
She also included some wonderful chocolate and a pretty blue scissor fob:
And my first Christmas Ornament from a blogging friend - I will cherish it always :)
Thank you So much Gracie - You made my day !!!!!
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to all :)
I have received word that my exchange partner (Mare) has received her gift, so I feel free to post the photos now. This design was from the Honeysuckle Manor booklet, and is stitched on 32 count platinum using Crescent Colors Plum Paisley. I made it into a pocket for the front of a purse I thought would work well for a stitching bag. I also made a needle minder from a portion of another BBD pattern called : "Keepsake Box and Pinkeep" loose feathers pattern 33.
Take A Look:
It is a very quick stitch and makes a nice ornament to fill gaps in the tree !!
I've made several in red and I am going to make more in green !!

Happy Stitching :)
I was going through some old boxes today and found this:
It is a Christmas Stocking my mother had started to make for my brother - He has since passed away & I would love to finish it - I have no idea what the pattern is or whom it was designed by. Is anyone out there familiar with it -
Please let me know if you recognize it - I would so appreciate it !!!
I decided to stitch "Floral Gift" from the Just Cross Stitch Magazine 2010 Christmas Ornament Issue. I stitched this design on 32 count platinum linen over two threads with recommended fibers. I changed the finishing just a little. I made a flat ornament and added ribbon and buttons to the edge. Take a look:
I have really developed a love for beautiful frames and ribbon - I have started lacing all of my finishes because I like the ability to adjust the appearance of the work as I desire. I also like to avoid anything that could damage something that I have stitched so carefully. I have started to pull out some of my stitching in the attempt to get some finishing completed. Take a look:
This is a photo of the ornaments I have done so far (per request) besides the few I have given away :)
(I still need buttons for my snowmen noses & a cardinal for my "Winter Sheep".
Midnight Stitching "Heartstruck Quakers", Little House Needleworks "Winter Sheep", LHN "Peppermint Twist", LHN "Merry Skater", LHN "Pear Tree", Courtney Collection "Turtle Dove" from Just Cross Stitch 2008 Christmas Issue, Full Circle Designs JCS Magazine 2008 Issue" A Christmas Song", LHN "Fa-La-La", LHN "Winter Sampler" JCS Magazine 2009 Issue, Sue Hillis Designs "Peace 2009" from JCS Magazine 2009 Issue, Sam Sarah Design Studio "Peace" JCS Magazine 2009 Issue, Red & White Snowmen created from a portion of a San Man freebie design, San Man freebie, Midnight Stitching "Heartstruck Quakers", Last 2 Stockings Black Bird Designs "Love Is In The Air"
I have been so far behind on stitching my Little House Needleworks Ornaments that I didn't think I would ever catch up !! I have completed the stitching for "Winter Sheep" & "Peppermint Twist" I stitched them both on 32 count natural Belfast linen - I like the raw look of the fabric. I am going to stitch these ornaments again in all different sizes to adequately fill all parts of my tree. I plan to change the finishing as well - flat ornaments, pillows, pinkeeps, etc. - I like variety with my decorations !!
As you can see, I still need to buy my little cardinal for my "Winter Sheep" - Oh well, I guess I must drop by my stitchy store again - What a shame ;)
I almost forgot to mention my exciting news - I recently won an LHN Chart Giveaway - "Be Merry - Belle Pepper" This has to be the most charming little chart - The colors are so wonderful - Take a look:
I can't wait to stitch it !!!!!! So much stitching - so little time -
(I start back to work this weekend - wish me luck !!!!)
I made this pattern by re-arranging a Quaker Motif & finished it as a scissor pocket. The thread color in used is DMC 918. The fabric is tea dyed 28 count evenweave. I just can't get enough of Autumn Colors !!!
A quick finish with the "Bluebird" reward of merit pincushion pattern.
I used Valdani 3 ply colorfast floss in color 0578 Primitive Blue that I purchased at Anita's Little Stitches. I then placed my stitch work on a linen purse front that I recently aquired on sale!!!!
I finished off the corners with some buttons to match - Quick & easy
